Back to Phuket for 12th annual Boyz Sailing trip.
And then we were 4. New core group of 4 guys with all repeat from last year. Due to unavailability of Bob's boats that we have used the recent years we went for an Elite Yachting Nautitech Open 40. Seriously nice boat although not sailing as well as Bob's aluminum cats. But comfortable with Air Condition and generator. Very nice outside cockpit area where we spent most of the time. Boat (and Elite) are based in Yacht Haven far north on Phuket Island so we started out of there on Sunday morning after having upset the Elite crew by sneaking on supplies on Saturday afternoon. OOPS... Made it across to Railei on Sunday with about 30 minutes to spare. Good we got going early. Monday was spent at Ko Hong (Krabi) with the lagoon. On the way back we caught a 10kg Barracuda while sailing, so that caused some excitement with regards to slowing down the boat (full sails up when fish caught) and to wheel in the fish. Moderately good eating only, so it only made it for one meal. No time to stop at Chicken Island on the way over, so stopped there on Monday. New rule of no beer in the national parks, so we went to Railey beach instead for the sunset. Tuesday was spent at Bamboo Island. Water was Chrystal clear and weather perfect. Overnight at Phi Phi Don. Wednesday we went over to Phi Phi Le, but the amount of tourists in long-tails and speedboats were a bit over the top, so we found another beach on the west side of Phi Phi Don based on Colin's recommendation. Good place.
Thursday was time to head back to Phuket. Since we had to go up north to Yacht Haven we explored a new route and sound some more good island for a place for lunch and some swimming.
Good trip yet again that will be repeated next year.
Best regards,
Eirik, Patrick, Kelly and Atle
