  Updated 5 November 2010

Some time in July we started planning the 5th annual boy’s only sailing trip to Phuket. 3 of us the first year, 5 2nd and 3rd with a peak participation in 2009 with 7 passengers. This year we ended with 4 of us. Arild, Eirik, Morten and myself. Captain and cook plus a masseuse to make life on the blue water pleasant. We did however take the same big boat. Australian built Chameleon. 47 foot Catamaran that we have had for 3 years now.

Like last 2 years we decided to take a cook with us. Smart move once again. Wandee is an award winning cook and took very well care of our hunger needs.

We all arrived from various parts of the world on various flights. Eirik and Morten from Singapore, Arild from Norway and myself from Baku. Hell of a flight getting there. Baku-Dubai. Overnight in Dubai. Dubai to Singapore via Sri Lanka. Overnight in Singapore and then morning flight to Phuket and straight on the boat.

PERFECT wind. One reef in the sail to begin with, but got them all up and had the boat up to 13.4 knots with about 22 knots wind heading across to Krabi.

We did more sailing this year than we have done in the previous 4 years put together. Even had the 200 sqm spinnaker up for a while.

Next morning headed towards Phi Phi and stopped at Bamboo island for lunch before mooring for the night in the bay at Phi Phi.

Third day was spent at Phi Phi Le. Too windy for mooring in Maya bay, so we ended up on the East side of the island and walked across to Maya bay for the traditional breakfast beer at the hut there.

20th came too fast and we headed back to Chalong bay to finish of the trip.

Quiet evening with Bob (boat owner) in Patong Beach where we had dinner at Wine Connection. Good place that can be recommended to all that are going to Phuket.

Al in all a fantastic trip that will be repeated next year.

Best Regards:

Morten, Eirik, Arild and Atle
